At the 13th annual Laureus World Sports Award show, Olympic legend Usain Bolt won the prestigious Sportsman of the Year, while Jessica Ennis-Hill took home Sportswoman.
Both Ennis-Hill and Bolt received their awards following dominant performances on the track in the 2012 Olympic Games.
Bolt managed to beat out distance runner Mo Farah, Lionel Messi, Michael Phelps, Bradley Wiggins and motor racer, Sebastian Vettel to take home his 3rd Sportsman award.
Bolt’s Jamaican teammate, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a legend in her own right, was among the names of athletes that fell short to Ennis-Hill at the awards.
She also beat out former winner, Serena Williams, Allyson Felix, Lindsey Vonn, and swimmer, Missy Franklin, who would go on to win a year later.
